CM Siddaramaiah’s official residence, Kaveri, is set for renovation at an estimated cost of Rs 2.6 crore, raising concerns over government spending. A notification issued by the finance department on February 10 states that the Public Works Department will carry out various works, including constructing a helper room with a toilet, storage rooms, and installing kitchen items, crockery, and utensils.
Electrical upgrades such as internal wiring, lighting, water points, water heaters, and air conditioning will also be undertaken. Of the total cost, Rs 1.7 crore has been allocated for civil works, while Rs 89 lakh will be spent on electrification and air conditioning.
The government has granted an exemption under the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement Act, allowing the Public Works Department to execute the project directly without a tender process.
