National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah expressed his deep condemnation of the recent terror attack in Gagangir, which resulted in the tragic deaths of innocent civilians, including immigrant laborers and a doctor. Abdullah described the incident as “very unfortunate” and questioned the motives of the attackers, stating, “What will the terrorists get from this? Do they think they will be able to create a Pakistan here?”
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah emphasized the need to end terrorism for the sake of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted, “We are trying to put this to an end so we can move on from the misery,” and addressed the leadership in Pakistan directly: “If they want good relations with India, they need to put an end to this. Kashmir Pakistan nahi Banega. Let us live with dignity and succeed.”
Reflecting on the futility of the terrorists’ actions, Abdullah remarked, “If they couldn’t create a Pakistan for 75 years, how would it be possible now? It is time to end terrorism; otherwise, the results will be very severe. How will talks be held if they kill our innocent people?”
The National Conference President’s comments come in the wake of the deadly attack that occurred on Sunday evening when terrorists opened fire at a construction site in Gagangir, killing a doctor and six construction workers. In response to the attack, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), led by a senior officer, has been dispatched to Jammu and Kashmir to investigate the incident.
Following the attack, security forces quickly cordoned off the area in Gagangir, Sonamarg, and Ganderbal, launching a search operation to neutralize the attackers and restore safety to the region.
As the investigation continues, Abdullah’s call for peace and dignity resonates amid ongoing tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the urgent need for an end to violence in order to foster meaningful dialogue and improve relations between India and Pakistan.
