Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of turning the capital into the “crime capital of India.” Speaking at a rally ahead of the February 5 Delhi elections, Kejriwal alleged that BJP’s neglect and “hatred” toward Delhi are key reasons the party has failed to retain power in the city for the last 25 years.
Kejriwal drew attention to the rising number of criminal activities, such as robberies, chain snatchings, and gang wars, claiming these issues have made Delhi an unsafe place for its residents, especially women. “It has become unsafe for women to step out of their homes,” Kejriwal stated.
In response to growing concerns over security, the AAP leader promised to allocate funds to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) if AAP forms the next government, allowing them to hire private security guards to enhance safety without replacing the police force.
The Delhi CM also took aim at the BJP, calling them a “dharna party” and accusing them of using divisive tactics. He specifically highlighted the BJP’s attempts to target Purvanchal voters by invoking Rohingya issues in a bid to sow discord ahead of the upcoming elections.
