Kejriwal Breaks Silence On Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: Will He Contest From Two Seats?

In response to rumors circulating in the media, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal clarified on Thursday that he would only be contesting from one seat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections. Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal dismissed reports claiming he would contest from two constituencies, stating, "I will contest from only one seat."

Kejriwal, who has represented the New Delhi constituency in the Delhi Assembly since 2013, will be seeking re-election from the same seat for the fourth time in the 2025 elections. The seat has been a stronghold for Kejriwal, having won three consecutive terms from it, including in 2013, 2014, and 2019.

In the upcoming elections, Kejriwal will face off against BJP's Parvesh Verma and Congress's Sandeep Dikshit in a fiercely contested race for the New Delhi seat. Verma, in an earlier statement, had speculated that Kejriwal might not contest from New Delhi or could be vying for two seats. This was also echoed by BJP leader Amit Malviya, but Kejriwal firmly put those rumors to rest.

The Delhi Assembly elections will take place on February 5, 2025, with vote counting and results expected to be announced on February 8, 2025. The upcoming elections are expected to be a tough, triangular contest between AAP, BJP, and Congress, with AAP aiming to retain its power for a third consecutive term in the national capital.
