Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership of deliberately provoking chaos in the Lok Sabha by sending women MPs forward with banners and attempting to move towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s seat.
Speaking to the media, Rijiju claimed the actions were pre-planned and aimed at creating confrontation inside the House. “Rahul Gandhi and his Congress team deliberately sent women MPs forward with banners and planned to move towards the Prime Minister’s seat,” he said.
Rijiju stated that BJP MPs exercised restraint despite the situation escalating. “We showed restraint and stopped our MPs. We always instruct our members not to enter the Well of the House and not to engage in any scuffle with other MPs,” he said, adding that the ruling party avoided retaliation even as tensions rose.
According to the minister, the Congress leadership continued to push its MPs forward despite repeated appeals for calm. “They were sending their MPs forward again and again,” Rijiju alleged, accusing the Opposition of attempting to disrupt parliamentary proceedings.
