More than 20 militants from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) have been killed as Pakistani security forces continue to engage in a fierce gun battle following a hijacking incident involving the Jaffar Express on Tuesday. The passenger train, carrying around 400 people, was intercepted by armed BLA fighters in a tunnel near the mountainous Gudalar and Piru Kunri areas in Balochistan province.
The situation remains tense, with the security forces working relentlessly to rescue the remaining hostages. So far, over 100 passengers have been safely evacuated, including 58 men, 31 women, and 15 children, who have been transported to Mach in Kachhi district.
Despite the significant casualties on the militant side, several BLA fighters are reported to have taken hostages and fled into the mountains, continuing their escape under the cover of darkness. The military has surrounded the area, and efforts are underway to rescue the remaining passengers trapped in the tunnel.
