The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has crossed the halfway mark in early trends as vote counting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 progresses nationwide on Tuesday, June 4, according to reports from Times Now and News18. These reports also indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

The NDA has surged ahead with leads in over 300 parliamentary seats. According to Times Now, the NDA is leading in 300 seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc is ahead in 170 seats. News18 reports the NDA leading in 293 seats, with the INDIA bloc ahead in 192. NDTV's figures show the NDA leading in 281 seats, with the INDIA bloc closing in on 197 seats.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar informed news agency PTI that the counting of votes has commenced across states and Union Territories. According to the Conduct of Election Rules, postal ballots were the first to be counted, followed by the votes recorded in electronic voting machines (EVMs) 30 minutes later.
