Madhya Pradesh Minister Sampatiya Uikey on Tuesday firmly rejected allegations that she accepted a ₹1,000 crore bribe, calling the charges baseless and an act of targeted harassment.
Speaking to reporters in Bhopal, Uikey said, “I am absolutely right, and I have no objection to any kind of investigation. I am an Adivasi woman and come from a poor working-class background. Today, I am serving the people here with full dedication.”
She added that she would leave the matter to the state leadership. “My Chief Minister will respond to this, he is fully aware of everything,” she said, expressing confidence in a fair inquiry if needed.
Uikey also condemned what she described as attempts to malign her reputation. “The way I am being harassed is completely wrong and unjust,” she said.
The allegations, which surfaced over the past few days through social media and rival political leaders, have created a political storm in the state. Uikey, seen as an influential tribal leader, has been credited for several welfare initiatives in her tenure and said she would continue working for the people without fear.
