The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its fourth list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, unveiling the names of Sudhir Laxmanrao Parwe and Narendra Lalchandji Mehta. Parwe will contest from the Umred (SC) constituency, while Mehta is set to represent Mira Bhayandar. This announcement comes on the last day for filing nominations ahead of the polls scheduled for November 20.
In a parallel move, Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has also released its fourth list, featuring two candidates: Devendra Bhuyar from Morshi constituency in Solapur district and Shankar Mandekar from Bhor in Pune.
The election will see voters casting their ballots for all 288 assembly seats in a single phase on November 20, with the counting of votes set for November 23. As of October 28, a total of 4,426 nomination papers from 3,259 candidates have been submitted for the 288 constituencies, according to the Chief Election Officer's office.
The Model Code of Conduct for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly General Election came into effect on October 15, following the issuance of the election notification on October 22, 2024. As the political landscape heats up, both major parties are finalizing their candidates and gearing up for the crucial election that will shape the future of Maharashtra.
