Maharashtra Budget 2024-25: Ajit Pawar Announces Rs 1500 Monthly Allowance For Women, Free Gas Cylinders For Families

Ajit Pawar's announcements come at a critical time, as the state prepares for the upcoming elections. These welfare schemes are seen as a strategic move to garner support and address the pressing needs of the population

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, presenting the state Budget for 2024-25, announced a slew of new welfare initiatives aimed at supporting women and families, with a significant focus on enhancing social welfare ahead of the October state elections.

One of the key highlights of Pawar’s budget presentation was the introduction of the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana” (CM My Beloved Sister Scheme). Under this new scheme, eligible women aged 21 to 60 will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 starting from July 2024. “We are announcing Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin. Under this, all women will be given Rs 1,500 per month. The scheme will be implemented from July 2024,” Ajit Pawar stated.

Pawar, who also holds the finance portfolio, emphasized the government’s commitment to women’s welfare, stating that an annual budget of Rs 46,000 crore has been allocated for this initiative. This substantial budget reflects the administration’s dedication to providing financial assistance and support to women across the state.

In addition to the financial assistance for women, Pawar announced another significant welfare scheme, the “Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana.” This program will provide three free cooking gas cylinders each year to eligible families of five. The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on households and ensure that basic needs are met, particularly for those in economically weaker sections.

Ajit Pawar’s budget presentation also included several other important announcements. The budget is designed to bolster social welfare programs and improve the quality of life for the residents of Maharashtra. By introducing these new schemes, the government aims to address key issues faced by women and families, providing them with essential financial support and resources.

The allocation of Rs 46,000 crore for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana demonstrates the government’s proactive approach towards women’s welfare. This initiative is expected to benefit a large number of women across the state, offering them financial security and stability.

Similarly, the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana will play a crucial role in supporting households by providing free cooking gas cylinders. This scheme is particularly significant in light of the rising cost of living and the financial challenges faced by many families.

Ajit Pawar’s announcements come at a critical time, as the state prepares for the upcoming elections. These welfare schemes are seen as a strategic move to garner support and address the pressing needs of the population. The Deputy Chief Minister’s focus on social welfare and economic support highlights the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.
