As Maharashtra gears up for the presentation of the State Budget 2025-26, BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has defended the government’s approach to fulfilling its pre-election promises. Responding to concerns over unmet commitments, Mungantiwar emphasized that governance is a long-term process and cannot be judged prematurely.

“The promises made in the manifesto cannot be fulfilled in just one year. The government is meant to run for five years. If we give an answer sheet to a student, with a three-hour exam, and then take away their answer sheet in just three minutes, that’s not how it works,” said Mungantiwar, drawing an analogy between governance and an examination.

The statement comes amid growing scrutiny over the Mahayuti-NDA government’s ability to deliver on key promises, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, employment, welfare schemes, and financial relief. With Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar set to present the budget, expectations are high for major policy announcements addressing economic growth and social welfare.

Opposition parties, including the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress, have criticized the government for delays in fund allocations, slow progress in implementing schemes, and an increasing debt burden. However, BJP leaders maintain that the government’s roadmap is on track and will be executed systematically over its tenure.
