Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the transformative role of technology in governance and healthcare during a recent address. Highlighting the impact of Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), he stated, “Today IT and AI are changing our lives. They are changing the way countries and governments govern, enhancing our delivery capabilities.”
Fadnavis underlined the importance of using advanced technology to bridge healthcare gaps in rural areas. “What we need most in rural areas is to connect every single person with quality healthcare. Today, this is only possible through technology,” he said, pointing to recent advancements in healthcare delivery and rural development.
Recalling an inspiring encounter at a startup exhibition, the Chief Minister shared, “A young IIT graduate showcased a machine powered by AI that could scan a retina in less than a minute. The device captured multiple photographs of the retina and provided comprehensive predictions almost instantly.” Such innovations, Fadnavis noted, exemplify how cutting-edge technology can address critical challenges in healthcare, especially in underprivileged areas.
Fadnavis also acknowledged the rapid integration of technological interventions across sectors, from healthcare to rural development, which has been pivotal in transforming the quality of life in Maharashtra’s villages.
The Chief Minister’s remarks underline the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve governance and provide equitable healthcare access, setting a benchmark for innovation-driven development in India.
