Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly condemned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial question to a contestant on Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. Addressing the media on Monday, Fadnavis emphasized that comedians and influencers must maintain ethical boundaries and called for action against those who promote obscenity.
“Certain things have been said and presented in a very wrong manner, as I have come to know… This is absolutely wrong. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but our freedom ends where we encroach upon someone else’s freedom. This is not right. I believe that even expression has its limits,” the Chief Minister stated.

He further stressed, “Our society has established certain norms regarding obscenity, and if someone crosses those boundaries, it is a very serious matter. Action should be taken against this.”
Following the controversy, a complaint has been filed in Mumbai against Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija (The Rebel Kid), Samay Raina, and the organisers of India’s Got Latent. The complaint accuses them of using abusive language on the show and promoting obscenity, with demands for strict action against them. However, none of the accused have responded to the allegations yet.
The controversy erupted after Ranveer, who appeared as a special guest alongside Apoorva Makhija and Ashish Chanchlani, asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life — or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
His remark sparked outrage on social media, with many users calling it highly inappropriate and demanding legal action. Some users even called for his arrest. Instead of condemning the comment, fellow panellists Apoorva and Samay were seen encouraging the conversation, leading to further backlash against them.
India’s Got Latent has gained significant popularity on YouTube, featuring several celebrity guests such as Uorfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Tanmay Bhat, Farah Khan, Bharti Singh, Raftaar, and Raghu Ram. The show’s host, Samay Raina, rose to fame after co-winning Comicstaan 2 and has since become a prominent name in online comedy. However, this latest controversy has put the show under scrutiny.
