The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is set for a historic win in Maharashtra as it crosses the crucial majority mark in the 2024 Assembly elections. Celebrations erupted across party offices as the alliance leads in 220 seats, showcasing a landslide victory that cements its stronghold in the state.

CM Eknath Shinde Thanks People of Maharashtra

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for their overwhelming support. Speaking to the media, Shinde said, “I thank the voters of Maharashtra. This is a landslide victory. I had said before that Mahayuti will get a thumping victory. I thank all sections of society, especially my ‘ladli behnas’ and farmers, for choosing the BJP-led government in Maharashtra. I also thank all the workers of the Mahayuti parties.”

Mahayuti’s Dominance in Numbers

As per the Election Commission’s data at 11 AM, the Mahayuti alliance secured a commanding lead:

  • BJP: Leading in 128 seats
  • Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction): Leading in 55 seats
  • NCP (Ajit Pawar faction): Leading in 35 seats
  • Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party: Leading in 2 seats

Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), led by Uddhav Thackeray, struggled to make an impact:

  • INC: Leading in 20 seats
  • Shiv Sena (UBT): Leading in 16 seats
  • NCP (Sharad Pawar faction): Leading in 13 seats
  • Samajwadi Party: Leading in 2 seats

Other parties, including AIMIM, JSS, PWPI, and independents, made modest gains.

Celebrations and Political Reactions

At the BJP’s Mumbai office, party workers celebrated the victory with slogans and firecrackers. Shiv Sena leader Naresh Mhaske took a swipe at Uddhav Thackeray and his allies, stating, “The public has shown their faith in Eknath Shinde as the true leader of Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena. The votes are a slap on the face of Sanjay Raut.”

Mhaske added, “Eknath Shinde is the leader Maharashtra trusts, and this victory proves that he is the right person to lead the state.”

What’s Next for Mahayuti?

Sources have indicated that the BJP is likely to hold the Maharashtra Legislative Party meeting on November 25, with the oath-taking ceremony planned for November 26. A larger meeting of the Yuti alliance is also expected to finalize the leadership structure.

While Eknath Shinde’s name is strongly backed for the Chief Minister’s position, the final decision will be announced after internal discussions among alliance members.

A New Political Chapter

With this decisive mandate, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has reshaped Maharashtra’s political landscape. The focus now shifts to delivering on the promises made to the people, with leaders pledging to prioritize the welfare of farmers, women, and all sections of society.

As celebrations continue, Maharashtra awaits the formal announcement of its leadership team, marking the beginning of a new era under the Mahayuti government.
