The Maharashtra government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the death of Dr. Gauri Palve-Garje, the wife of Anant Garje, personal assistant to state minister and BJP leader Pankaja Munde. Dr. Gauri was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the couple’s residence in Worli, Mumbai, in what was initially reported as a suicide.

The move comes after members of Dr. Gauri’s family met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging a thorough and impartial investigation. Responding to their appeal, the Chief Minister assured complete transparency and directed the immediate formation of a dedicated SIT.

SIT Led by Senior Woman IPS Officer

The SIT will be headed by Mumbai Police DCP Ragasudha R., a senior woman IPS officer known for handling sensitive and high-profile investigations. Officials confirmed that the team has already begun reviewing evidence, including statements, digital records, and forensic findings.

Husband in Custody

Anant Garje, currently in judicial custody in connection with the case, will remain under interrogation as investigators attempt to uncover the circumstances leading to Dr. Gauri’s death. Police officials said the SIT will independently evaluate all angles, including domestic disputes, professional pressures, and any external involvement.

Family’s Demand for Justice

Dr. Gauri’s relatives have consistently maintained that the circumstances around her death raise several questions. They welcomed the government’s decision to form the SIT and expressed hope that the truth will emerge without political interference.
