Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar has sought to allay public fears surrounding the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) following the state’s recent cases. Addressing the media on Wednesday, he emphasized that the HMPV variant is not a significant health threat and assured citizens of the state health department’s readiness to manage the situation.

“We have mentioned this earlier too that this variant is not strong,” Abitkar said. “We have dealt with problematic viruses like COVID-19. Our health department is working efficiently in this matter. No one has to worry.”
