Maharashtra: Who Will Be The CM Face Of Maha Vikas Aghadi? Insights From Recent Delhi Meeting And Assembly Election Strategy

As the MVA gears up for the assembly elections, the coalition’s ability to maintain unity and effectively manage seat distribution will be crucial in their bid to secure a significant victory

With the Maharashtra Assembly elections just around the corner, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition has begun intensifying its campaign efforts. In light of lessons learned from the Lok Sabha elections, the coalition is focusing on strengthening its position for the upcoming state assembly polls. Recently, Uddhav Thackeray spent three days in Delhi, where he held crucial meetings with key leaders of the India Aghadi alliance, including prominent figures from the Congress party.

An important meeting took place at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, where a comprehensive strategy for the Maharashtra Assembly elections was mapped out. Discussions covered a range of topics, from seat allocation to the potential Chief Ministerial candidate. According to TV9 sources, a consensus has emerged among the coalition partners regarding the CM face.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena faction, the Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP, appears poised to propose Thackeray’s name for the Chief Minister’s post once again. This decision reflects the coalition’s strategy to consolidate its position and address any internal disagreements.

The coalition’s approach to seat allocation was also a key topic of discussion. As per TV 9 sources indicate that Congress is set to contest the maximum number of seats, with the Shiv Sena’s Thackeray faction aiming for the second-largest share and Sharad Pawar’s NCP group taking the third. This allocation strategy is designed to leverage the coalition’s strengths and ensure a unified front in the elections.

Maharashtra has 288 assembly seats. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Congress won 14 seats, Shiv Sena Thackeray secured 9 seats, and NCP Pawar’s group obtained 8 seats. In contrast, the BJP won 9 seats, Shiv Sena Shinde Group 7 seats, and NCP Ajit Pawar Group 1 seat.

The MVA’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections was notably strong, prompting the coalition to recalibrate its strategy for the assembly elections. Uddhav Thackeray’s recent visit to Delhi marked his first major engagement since the Lok Sabha results, underscoring the importance of aligning strategies with coalition partners.

As the MVA gears up for the assembly elections, the coalition’s ability to maintain unity and effectively manage seat distribution will be crucial in their bid to secure a significant victory. The decision on the Chief Ministerial candidate and the overall electoral strategy are expected to play a decisive role in the coalition’s performance.
