Maharashtra Minister and State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule has stirred a fresh debate with his recent remarks calling for the closure of markets during the Bakra Eid period to prevent cow slaughter. Speaking on the matter, Bawankule stated, “During these days, efforts are made to slaughter as many cows and calves as possible. If the markets stay shut for five days, cows will not be slaughtered during Bakra Eid.”
Backing the move of the Gaushala Commission, Bawankule praised the decision to keep markets closed temporarily, saying, “The Gaushala Commission has made a good decision, and markets should remain shut. It's a matter of just five days and will not make much of a difference.”
