BJP MLA Nitesh Rane is in hot water following the emergence of a controversial video in which he made inflammatory remarks against Muslims. The video, which surfaced from an event held in Ahmednagar on Sunday, has led to two separate FIRs being registered against him at Shrirampur and Topkhana police stations.
During the event organized by Sakal Hindi Samaj Andolan in support of religious guru Ramgiri Maharaj, Rane was captured on video making severe threats. In his speech, Rane stated, “If anyone says anything against Ramgiri Maharaj, we will enter your mosques and hit you one by one.” He further elaborated, “If you say anything against our Ramgiri Maharaj, then we will come inside your mosques and beat you up one by one. Keep this in mind.”
The remarks have been widely criticized for inciting violence and promoting hatred. The video quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp reactions from various quarters. AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan has demanded immediate action, calling on Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to address the issue. Pathan’s post on X (formerly Twitter) urged the authorities to arrest Rane, describing his speech as “inflammatory” and “hate speech.”
The controversy centers around Ramgiri Maharaj, who has been accused of making derogatory comments about Prophet Mohammad and Islam during a religious program in Nashik’s Shah Panchale village. This has led to widespread protests and calls for his arrest from Muslim leaders across Maharashtra.
Rane’s statements and the subsequent legal action against him come amid heightened communal tensions and political sensitivity in the state. The developments have raised concerns about potential unrest and the role of political figures in stoking communal divides.
As the situation unfolds, authorities are expected to investigate the matter thoroughly and address the growing calls for accountability.
