MEA Denies Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Permission to Travel To Paris Citing Security Concerns

As the Paris Olympics continue, the Indian Hockey team's performance will be closely watched, with the nation rallying behind them despite the absence of the Punjab CM's in-person support.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has denied Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann permission to travel to Paris, citing security reasons. The Chief Minister’s Office received this information late Friday evening, causing a sudden change in the CM’s travel plans.

CM Mann was scheduled to depart for Paris on Saturday to support the Indian Hockey team at the ongoing Paris Olympics. His visit was aimed at boosting the morale of the team, which has recently achieved a historic victory. The Indian Hockey team defeated Australia 3-2, marking their first Olympic win against the Australian team since 1972.

Despite the travel setback, CM Mann expressed his pride and congratulations to the Indian hockey contingent on Friday. “It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that India defeated Australia by 3-2. Harmanpreet Singh led the team to victory by scoring two goals in this important match,” Mann stated. He lauded the entire team for making the country proud with this significant achievement.
