Early Life and Education

Dr Sandeep Prabhakar Dhurve was born on October 22, 1968, in Yavatmal, Maharashtra. He pursued his MBBS from Nagpur University, graduating from Government Medical College in 1991.

Political Career

Sandeep Dhurve began his political journey in 2004 when he was elected as a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Kelapur (ST) constituency. He defeated a strong Congress leader, Shivajirao Moghe. In 2014, he contested the elections on a Shiv Sena ticket but was defeated. However, in 2019, he was re-nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and won the election from the Arni (ST) constituency.

BJP MLA Dr. Sandeep Dhurve criticized the late MP Balu Dhanorkar, claiming he hadn’t done any work and challenged to show proof of work worth one crore rupees, promising to cut off half his mustache if proven wrong. Pratibha Dhanorkar, Balu’s wife and now an MP, responded by saying Dhurve should cut his mustache as she won the election.
