Early Life and Education

Ratnakar Manikrao Gutte was born in the Vanjari community on August 12, 1958. He started his career in the power sector, initially working as a helper to a contractor engaged in services to the State Electricity Board. Over 29 years, he gained extensive experience in project execution, including fabrication, erection, testing, and commissioning of power plants.

Political Career

Ratnakar Gutte is a member of the Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP) and has been serving as the MLA for the Gangakhed constituency since November 28, 2019. He won the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections while he was in jail.

As an MLA, Gutte has been involved in various development projects within his constituency. His notable achievements include efforts to improve infrastructure, such as road construction and maintenance, and initiatives to enhance educational facilities and healthcare services.

Controversy

The CBI has registered an FIR against Maharashtra MLA Ratnakar Gutte and Gangakhed Sugar and Energy Limited for allegedly defrauding banks of ₹409.26 crore. The investigation also involves Gutte’s sons and other family members, who have been charged with criminal conspiracy and cheating. The company allegedly misused credit facilities worth ₹577.16 crore from a consortium of banks led by UCO Bank, resulting in significant financial losses and turning the account into a non-performing asset.
