Sunil Bhusara hails from the Vikramgad constituency in Maharashtra, known for its tribal population. Bhusara was born on October 31, 1979, in Hirve, Maharashtra. Bhusara pursued his education with a focus on social service, understanding the importance of education in uplifting the marginalized sections of society. His dedication to the cause of social justice and tribal welfare can be traced back to his formative years.
Political Career
Sunil Bhusara began his political journey as a member of the NCP (Sharad Pawar), a prominent political party in Maharashtra. His grassroots connection with the tribal community and active participation in local issues quickly earned him a reputation as a dedicated leader. Bhusara currently serves as the District President of NCP Palghar and Director of the Tribal Development Corporation, Government of Maharashtra. In the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Bhusara has been instrumental in advancing the agenda of tribal welfare, rural development, and infrastructural improvements in his constituency.

MLA Sunil Bhusara raised concerns in the Assembly about the exclusion of over 1.4 lakh girls pursuing traditional arts, commerce, and science courses from the government’s scheme for 100% reimbursement of educational fees. Although the scheme, issued on July 8, 2024, covers girls in professional courses like medicine and engineering, Bhusara urged the government to extend this benefit to those in traditional education, as originally intended by the Higher and Technical Education Minister.
MLA Sunil Bhusara is fighting for the rights of Maharashtra’s unemployed youth, demanding that the MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) provide employment opportunities. Despite political pressure and unmet promises, Bhusara led a hunger strike on the steps of the legislature to advocate for the youth. He remains committed to the cause, urging the government to issue the necessary notification and fulfill its promises.
During the Monsoon Session 2024, an MLA raised important questions in the Assembly regarding the welfare of employees in Mumbai’s Gram Panchayats, Municipal Councils, and Zilla Parishads. The questions focused on whether the government plans to:
- Approve government salaries for these employees.
- Implement government pensions.
- Approve the payment of salary arrears.

During the Assembly session, an MLA from Palghar raised concerns regarding the ongoing police recruitment in the district, where out of approximately 100 students, 80 had to return home. The MLA highlighted the issue of tribal students, noting that in Gadchiroli district, they are given a 2 to 3 cm height concession in body composition. The MLA strongly demanded that this concession be extended to all tribal-majority districts to ensure fairness in the recruitment process.
