Zeeshan Siddique, son of late Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, met with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar on Friday to discuss the ongoing investigation into his father’s murder. The high-level meeting took place at Fadnavis’ official residence, ‘Sagar Bungalow,’ and included top officers from the Mumbai police.
According to reports, this crucial meeting follows a series of unsettling events, including a threatening message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police demanding Rs 5 crore from actor Salman Khan. The threat, reportedly tied to a longstanding feud with notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has heightened tensions in the city. The meeting was reportedly held to inform the Siddique family of the ongoing investigation into Baba Siddique’s murder and to provide updates on the progress made by the authorities.
Zeeshan Siddique, a Congress MLA from Bandra West, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, appealing for justice for his slain father. Baba Siddique, a senior NCP leader and former MLA from Bandra, was brutally shot and killed in broad daylight on October 12 by three assailants. So far, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime, while other suspects remain at large.
While there is no direct evidence linking Lawrence Bishnoi to Baba Siddique’s murder, the case remains under investigation. The timing of the murder, coming just weeks before the Maharashtra Assembly elections, has shocked both the political community and the general public. The brutal killing of such a prominent figure in the middle of Mumbai has raised serious concerns about safety and law enforcement in the city.
The threatening message against Salman Khan, sent by an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, added to the gravity of the situation. The message warned that if Khan failed to pay the demanded Rs 5 crore, his fate would be worse than that of Baba Siddique. The threat has further complicated the atmosphere of fear and uncertainty surrounding the case.
Zeeshan Siddique’s meeting with the deputy chief ministers and top police officials underscores the urgency of resolving his father’s murder case, as well as addressing the growing concerns over safety and security in Mumbai, particularly with the upcoming elections.
