Nana Patole Slams Maharashtra Government Over Worli Hit-and-Run: ‘The Law And Order Situation Has Deteriorated’

Congress and NCP leaders demand justice in the wake of a tragic hit-and-run incident in Worli, Mumbai.

In the wake of a tragic hit-and-run incident in Worli, Mumbai, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole and NCP-SCP leader Rohit Pawar have raised serious concerns over the handling of the case by the state government. The incident, which claimed the life of Kaveri Nakhva and left her husband, Pradip, critically injured, has ignited public outrage and renewed discussions on law enforcement and justice in Maharashtra.

Nana Patole criticized the government, alleging that the accused in hit-and-run cases often evade justice due to their connections. “The government is safeguarding the accused. The accused in hit-and-run cases are roaming free in Maharashtra…The law and order situation in Maharashtra has deteriorated…The public has made up its mind to show the Maharashtra government its place,” Patole remarked, reflecting widespread frustration among the public regarding the perceived inequities in the legal system.

Echoing similar sentiments, Rohit Pawar emphasized the need for accountability regardless of the accused’s background. He questioned the court’s decision to grant bail to the father of the accused, Mihir Shah, while Mihir himself remains at large. Pawar’s remarks underscore the public’s demand for transparency and fairness in legal proceedings, particularly in cases involving influential individuals.

According to police reports, the incident occurred early in the morning when Mihir Shah, allegedly intoxicated, fled the scene after colliding with the victims. Before fleeing, Shah attempted to tamper with evidence by removing identifying markers from his vehicle, complicating initial efforts to identify him.

In response to the incident, law enforcement authorities have taken swift action, arresting Mihir Shah’s father, Rajesh Shah, and his driver on charges of hindering the investigation. Both are expected to face legal consequences for their alleged roles in impeding justice and shielding Mihir from accountability.

The Worli police have registered a case against Mihir Shah under serious charges, including rash driving, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. Intensive efforts by multiple police teams are currently underway to locate and apprehend Mihir Shah, whose evasion has prolonged the pursuit of justice for the victims and their families.

As Mumbai grapples with the aftermath of this tragic incident, community members have united in mourning Kaveri Nakhva’s untimely death and praying for Pradip Nakhva’s recovery. The case has reignited public discourse on road safety, legal accountability, and the need for stringent measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
