The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, has released its first list of candidates for the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections. This move marks the party’s strategic entry into Delhi’s political landscape. The list, comprising 11 candidates, was approved by the NCP’s Parliamentary Board and announced by Brijmohan Shrivastav, the National General Secretary and Chief National Spokesperson of the party.

Shrivastav stated that the selected candidates align with the NCP’s core values and commitment to public welfare. “We are confident that these candidates will bring forth our party’s vision and dedication to creating a better future for Delhi,” he said.

Key Candidates Announced

The list includes notable names such as:

  • Ratan Tyagi (Burari)
  • Shri Mulayam Singh (Badli)
  • Khalid Ur Rehman (Chandni Chowk)
  • Narender Tanwar (Chhatarpur)
  • Imran Saifi (Okhla)
  • Qamar Ahmad (Sangam Vihar)

These candidates are set to contest in pivotal constituencies, reflecting NCP’s strategy to challenge established players in Delhi politics.

Security Tightened Amid Election Preparations

Meanwhile, the Delhi administration has initiated heightened security measures ahead of the elections. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed the Commissioner of Police to intensify checks on “private” cars entering Delhi from Punjab. This move aims to ensure law and order during the election season and prevent any untoward incidents.

The NCP’s entry adds another dimension to the political competition in the national capital, traditionally dominated by the AAP, BJP, and Congress. The upcoming elections are expected to be a significant test of the NCP’s appeal among Delhi voters.
