Night Trains Suspended In Gujarat, Punjab Amid Border Tensions; Rail Services Disrupted Over Security Concerns

na

In the wake of escalating border tensions and heightened security protocols, the Western Railway has announced the suspension of several night-time trains passing through sensitive regions, particularly Bhuj in Gujarat and border-bound areas in Punjab including Amritsar and Firozpur.

According to railway officials, the decision comes amid growing security concerns and blackout protocols implemented in vulnerable areas close to the India-Pakistan border. “In view of the prevailing circumstances and advisories received from security agencies, certain night trains have been either suspended, short-terminated or diverted,” said a senior Western Railway spokesperson.

Trains operating on routes between Gujarat and Rajasthan have also been affected. Passengers traveling to or from border districts have been advised to check their train status in advance as schedules remain subject to change.

Pakistan’s recent military posturing and cross-border activity have led Indian authorities to enforce precautionary measures, especially for night travel through regions considered close to the Line of Control or the International Border.

Services toward Amritsar, Firozpur, and other border towns in Punjab have seen particular disruption, with railway authorities implementing blackout measures as a preventive step. Trains bound for these areas are either being halted en route or cancelled altogether.
