Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday dismissed reports of the BJP forming a ‘shadow cabinet’, stating that such a system does not exist in India. He asserted that his government is committed to delivering on promises made to the people and does not need a “shadow” to govern.

“There is only one cabinet. The BJP has ruled here till now. Now, the people’s government will do its work. We have promised to meet public expectations, and we stand by it,” Abdullah told reporters.

The Chief Minister was speaking after visiting the residence of Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi, who passed away earlier this week, to offer his condolences.

Ahead of Ramadan, Abdullah also chaired a high-level review meeting to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, availability of ration, sanitation, and smooth traffic management during the holy month. He directed officials to ensure that people do not face any inconvenience, especially during Sehri and Iftar timings.

Later, Abdullah also met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to discuss key issues related to the upcoming Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, set to commence on Monday. With political tensions rising, all eyes are on the session as the government gears up to implement its developmental agenda.
