As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surged ahead in the early trends of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, National Conference leader and INDIA bloc ally Omar Abdullah took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress over their internal differences.
Abdullah posted a meme on social media platform X, featuring a saint with the caption, “Aur lado aapas mein!!!” (Keep fighting among yourselves). His remark was seen as a dig at the ongoing rift between AAP and Congress, both part of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc, who failed to form a pre-poll alliance in Delhi.

The tensions between the two parties escalated during the campaign, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi directly attacking Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia over the alleged excise policy scam. Despite being part of the same alliance nationally, the two parties contested separately in Delhi, which many believe has benefited the BJP.
As per the latest trends from the Election Commission, the BJP has crossed the majority mark of 36 seats, leading on 43, while AAP was ahead in 27 constituencies. Delhi CM Atishi was trailing behind BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji by 1,149 votes.
With the BJP set to make a historic comeback in the national capital after over two decades, Abdullah’s comment reflects the broader challenges faced by the INDIA bloc in maintaining unity ahead of the 2024 general elections.
