After being expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh has unveiled a 10-point poll manifesto for the Karakat Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday, May 22. Singh, who is now running as an independent candidate, is set to contest against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Upendra Kushwaha in Karakat.
The BJP expelled Singh on charges of anti-party activities and tarnishing the party’s image. This decision was communicated through a letter from the office of BJP state headquarters in-charge Arvind Sharma, following instructions from Bihar BJP President Samrat Choudhary.
In response to his expulsion, Singh took to social media, likening himself to Abhimanyu, a warrior from the Mahabharat, to symbolize his resolve and fight.
Singh’s 10-point manifesto includes several key initiatives:
- Expanding new employment opportunities.
- Promoting organic and modern agriculture through the establishment of a training center.
- Ensuring proper arrangements for water collection, drinking water, and irrigation.
- Developing film industries and ensuring respect for artists.
- Enhancing local infrastructure and services.
Singh’s entry into the race has turned the Karakat contest into a three-way battle. The NDA has fielded Upendra Kushwaha from the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, while the Opposition Grand Alliance has nominated CPI-ML candidate Rajaram Singh Kushwaha.
As a member of an upper-caste family from Bhojpur district, Singh’s candidacy is expected to impact the NDA’s vote bank by drawing away upper-caste votes traditionally loyal to the BJP.
Polling in Karakat is scheduled for June 1, during the seventh phase of the elections. Singh’s manifesto and campaign efforts are now focused on swaying voters and addressing key local issues, as the constituency prepares for a highly competitive election day.
