On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude, highlighting the success of the initiative which has become a “people-powered movement.” Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to mark the milestone, appreciating the participation from diverse sections of society.
He noted that the movement, launched to combat gender biases and promote education for the girl child, has paved the way for a more inclusive future, where girls can access education and opportunities to achieve their dreams. PM Modi lauded the efforts of people and community organizations in districts with historically low child sex ratios, which have seen significant improvements due to the initiative.
Emphasizing the importance of continuing this mission, Modi stressed the need for a society where daughters can thrive without discrimination, calling for sustained efforts to protect the rights of women in India.
