Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a fierce speech on Saturday, promising to thwart any alleged attempts by the INDIA bloc to deprive Dalits and backward classes of their reservations. Speaking at a rally in Pataliputra, about 40 km from Patna, Modi accused the opposition bloc of “enslavement” and performing “mujra” (dance) for the Muslim vote bank.
“Bihar is the land which has given a new direction to the fight for social justice. I wish to declare on its soil that I will foil the plans of INDIA bloc to rob SCs, STs, and OBCs of their rights and divert these to Muslims. They may remain enslaved and perform ‘mujra’ to please their vote bank,” said PM Modi.
PM specifically targeted the RJD and Congress, accusing them of depriving Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) of quotas in minority institutions. He portrayed himself as the defender of these groups’ rights and vowed to protect their reservations from being undermined.
Modi also promised significant development for Bihar if given another five years in power. He assured the people of faster development with better electricity supply and more pucca (permanent) houses. He criticized the previous Congress-led UPA government for lacking the resolve to provide free foodgrains to the common people, highlighting his government’s efforts in this regard.
He took a jibe at pollsters predicting a dip in the NDA’s tally, mocking the opposition for releasing exit polls even before the elections concluded. “INDIA bloc has come up with its exit polls even before the elections conclude. Soon they might go back to crying hoarse on EVMs,” Modi quipped, suggesting that the opposition was already preparing excuses for their anticipated defeat.
