Mumbai Police were put on high alert after receiving a WhatsApp message threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life. The message, which referenced a plot involving two ISI agents and a bomb blast targeting the Prime Minister, was sent to the city’s traffic police helpline in the early hours of Saturday, an official confirmed.
The police swiftly traced the number to Ajmer, Rajasthan, and dispatched a team to apprehend the suspect. According to an official, initial investigations suggest the sender may be mentally unstable or under the influence of alcohol. However, authorities have stated that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness, and a detailed probe is underway.
“A WhatsApp message was received threatening Prime Minister Modi and mentioning a bomb blast plot involving two ISI agents. The number has been traced to Ajmer, and efforts to locate the individual are ongoing,” the official said.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are examining all angles, including the possibility of the threat being a hoax.
This development comes amidst heightened security concerns across the country, with agencies on alert against potential threats.
