Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra today, where he will launch a series of development projects worth over ₹56,000 crore, officials have confirmed. His visit includes significant initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, agriculture, and the transport sector in the state.
Modi’s day will begin in Washim, where he will inaugurate the Banjara Virasat Museum—a tribute to the heritage of the Banjara community. This will follow his prayers at the Jagdamba Mata Temple in Poharadevi and paying respects at the samadhis of Sant Sevalal Maharaj and Sant Ramrao Maharaj.
Later, the Prime Minister will shift focus to the city of Thane, where he will launch and lay foundation stones for various projects totaling over ₹32,800 crore. Among the key projects is the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project, a 29-kilometer network designed to address growing transportation demands in Thane, a rapidly expanding industrial hub. The metro project alone is worth ₹12,200 crore, with 20 elevated and two underground stations planned.
In Mumbai, Modi will inaugurate the highly anticipated Mumbai Metro Line-3’s BKC to Aarey JVLR section, costing approximately ₹14,120 crore. During the event, he will take a ride between Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Santacruz metro stations to showcase the new line, which is expected to greatly ease commuting in the western part of the city.
At noon, Modi will turn his attention to agriculture and rural development initiatives in Washim, launching projects valued at ₹23,300 crore. In line with his commitment to supporting farmers, he will also disburse the 18th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, amounting to ₹20,000 crore, benefiting around 9.4 crore farmers across India. This brings the total disbursed under PM-KISAN to ₹3.45 lakh crore.
The Prime Minister will also launch the 5th installment of the NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, releasing ₹2,000 crore to farmers in Maharashtra. Additionally, he will dedicate more than 7,500 projects worth ₹1,920 crore to the nation under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), which includes cold storage, processing units, and warehouses.
Modi will introduce the Unified Genomic Chip for cattle, aimed at improving livestock breeding practices and cutting costs for farmers. The GAUCHIP for cattle and MAHISHCHIP for buffaloes are part of the initiative, helping to identify high-quality bulls at an early age.
In the later part of the day, around 4 pm, Modi will continue his focus on infrastructure by laying the foundation for the Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension from Chheda Nagar to Anand Nagar in Thane, a project worth ₹3,310 crore aimed at improving connectivity between South Mumbai and Thane.
Further, at 6 pm, he will flag off the new BKC to Aarey metro service at a formal event, which includes a journey between BKC and Santacruz stations to mark the inauguration of this critical public transport route.
In a major energy initiative, Modi will dedicate five solar parks with a total capacity of 19 MW under Maharashtra’s Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0. He will also honor beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana during the event.
Additionally, Modi will lay the foundation stone for Phase-1 of the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) project, valued at ₹2,550 crore. This project includes the construction of arterial roads, bridges, and utility infrastructure to support the upcoming Navi Mumbai Airport.
The launch of these projects comes at a critical time for Maharashtra, with the state assembly elections looming and the Election Commission expected to announce the schedule soon.
Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives are expected to play a pivotal role in the state’s economic growth, particularly in terms of urban transportation, rural development, and agricultural productivity.
