In a sharp response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks regarding the caste census, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stated that the Prime Minister would be the one losing sleep, not the INDIA alliance or his party. Venugopal emphasized that Congress would exert maximum pressure on the government regarding the caste census issue.
"I don't know on what ground the PM is saying like this," Venugopal remarked, referring to the Prime Minister’s previous statements. "The PM will be the one who will be having sleepless nights, not the INDIA alliance, Rahul Gandhi, or Congress. We are going to put maximum pressure on him on the issue of the caste census," Venugopal added.
He further criticized the government's approach, drawing a comparison to the Women’s Reservation Bill and saying that while the opposition would "sleep peacefully," the Prime Minister would find it "difficult to sleep."
The Congress leader's statements come amidst rising political discussions surrounding the caste census, with various opposition parties urging the government to take concrete steps toward its implementation.
