Suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who faces serious sexual abuse charges, is set to be arrested upon his arrival at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. Acting on an arrest warrant issued earlier this month, police are prepared to detain him as soon as he lands.
Revanna has booked a flight from Munich to Bengaluru on May 30, with his arrival scheduled for the early hours of Friday. “He has booked a flight from Munich to Bengaluru by Lufthansa Airlines. The flight will leave Munich on Thursday afternoon and land in Bengaluru at 12:05 am on Friday,” an official told PTI.
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara confirmed on Wednesday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is vigilant and ready for Revanna’s arrest. “All necessary measures have to be taken, as a warrant has been issued against him. He has to be arrested. SIT is waiting, they will arrest him and will take his statement, and their process will start,” Parameshwara told reporters.
When asked if Revanna would be arrested at the airport, Parameshwara affirmed, “It has to be done there, as a warrant has been issued. So he will have to be arrested.”
The SIT has been on high alert, preparing for Revanna’s return and subsequent arrest. This development marks a significant step in the investigation into the charges against the suspended MP, ensuring that due process is followed upon his arrival in India.
