
Early Life and Education
Geeta Bharat Jain was born on July 5, 1964, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She grew up in Andheri, Mumbai, and completed her schooling at M.A. High School, Andheri. She pursued her secondary education at Bhavans College, Mumbai, and later obtained a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from PVT Polytechnic College, Santacruz, Mumbai, in 1984.
Political Career
Geeta Bharat Jain began her political journey in 2002 when she was elected as a corporator in the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. She was re-elected in 2012 and served as the Mayor of Mira-Bhayandar from 2015 to 2017. In 2019, she contested the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections as an independent candidate from the Mira Bhayandar constituency and won. She later joined the Shiv Sena but switched to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in June 2022 due to internal conflicts within the Shiv Sena.
Major Achievements
MLA Geeta Bharat Jain has initiated the construction of a state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Mira-Bhayandar to address the area’s lack of health infrastructure. This new 120-bed facility, costing ₹134 crore, will benefit residents of Mira-Bhayandar and neighboring regions, including Vasai, Virar, Dahanu, and areas from Dahisar to Andheri. Jain has diligently worked to secure all necessary permissions and coordinate with nodal agencies, with construction recently beginning.

As the Paryushan festival, a significant period of faith and fasting for Jains begins a request was made to Thane’s Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai and Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sanjay Katkar to close slaughterhouses and meat shops in the city during the festival. The request aims to uphold the sanctity of the festival, reflecting the city’s large Jain population and their observance of the sacred period.
Controversy
Slapping Incident: In June 2023, Geeta Jain was involved in a controversy where she was seen slapping a junior engineer of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation during a demolition drive. The incident was widely reported and led to criticism from various quarters34.
Geeta Jain has been involved in a controversy regarding alleged hate speech. The Bombay High Court directed the police to review videos of her speeches, and they found prima facie grounds to register a case against her under sections of the Indian Penal Code that deal with promoting enmity between different groups and other related offenses.

MLA Geeta Jain, supporting the Maha-Yuti (MY) government, has organized the “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Rozgar Melawa,” a large job fair aimed at providing employment opportunities for educated youth in the twin-city. Jain emphasized that the fair will connect job-seekers with leading entrepreneurs and promote skill development and innovation. It will also feature a stall for the Chief Minister Youth Work Training Scheme, offering stipends of ₹6,000 to ₹10,000 per month for on-job training. This initiative aims to benefit both job seekers and employers. A similar fair held in April 2023 successfully placed around 800 job seekers.
On the occasion of Dahi Handi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde gifted Mira Bhayandar residents the inauguration of an “Elevated Flyover Bridge” aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing convenience. The bridge, located on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg near Pleasant Park Signal, was inaugurated on August 27, 2024. This development reflects the ongoing commitment to improving Mira Bhayandar’s infrastructure.

Work began on September 1, 2024, and aims to enhance the temple’s facilities and attract devotees.
Shri Mahavir Jain Bhavan: A new community center for Jain religious leaders and the Jain community will be inaugurated on September 4, 2024, near Solitaire Heights, Bhayander West.
Ram Katha Program: Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya Ji Maharaj, who had previously canceled a program due to health reasons, will visit Mira Bhayandar from September 17 to 24, 2024, to give darshan.
Shri Gangotri North Indian Bhavan: A new cultural center for the North Indian community will have its Bhumipujan on September 17, 2024, in Navghar Village, with Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya Ji Maharaj presiding.
