
Early Life and Education
Mihir Chandrakant Kotecha was born on April 19, 1975, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He completed his early education in Mumbai and pursued higher education at K. J. Somaiya College of Science & Commerce, Vidyavihar, where he passed the first year of Junior College in Science.
Political Career
Mihir Kotecha is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has been serving as the Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Mulund constituency since 2019. Prior to this, he held significant positions within the BJP, including Vice President of BJP Mumbai and President of the BJP Mumbai Youth Wing. Additionally, he was a BJP candidate for the Member of Parliament (MP) elections.
Major Achievements
One of Kotecha’s notable initiatives is the “Pothole Yatra,” which aimed to address the chronic issue of potholes on Mumbai’s roads. This initiative saw him work directly with engineers to identify and fix potholes in Mulund, making infrastructure repair a priority(Free Press Journal).
Furthermore, he has consistently raised the issue of civic inefficiencies with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), pushing for accountability and transparency in public works

Controversy
Following accusations from the MVA that the BJP was bribing voters in the Mumbai North East constituency, a BMC official reported finding over Rs 50,000 in cash without supporting documents at Mahayuti candidate Mihir Kotecha’s office. The official, Madhav Bhangre, claimed he was assaulted and his identity card was attempted to be snatched by a group of 20-25 men.

Promises and Future Commitments
MLA Mihir Kotecha organized a joint visit to review the GMLR project on the Mulund side, involving DMC Infra, Chief Engineer Roads, Executive Engineer Roads, AMC T Ward, Senior PI Traffic, and other officials. The review aimed to address issues such as poor workmanship, site cleanliness, scrap dumping, and excessive barricading that were causing traffic congestion. The focus was on ensuring the timely completion of work to facilitate smooth traffic flow from Khindipada Sonapur Junction to Nahur.
MLA Mihir Kotecha has focused on improving amenities for citizens, especially during the monsoon season. As part of this effort, he oversaw the beautification and maintenance of paver blocks at New Shanti Society, Ambika Nagar, Mulund West. The residents have expressed their satisfaction with the completed work.
MLA Mihir Kotecha held a meeting at the MCGM Commissioner’s office to address various civic issues in Mulund, with department heads and officials in attendance. Key outcomes include:
- Roadworks: New roads from LBS Rd to Raja Industrial Estate and Eastern Express Highway to Tata Colony will begin soon.
- Traffic Congestion: A joint site visit will be organized to address delays and poor work quality on the GMLR project from Dr. Hegdewar Chowk to Nahur ROB.
- Water Supply: The Chief Engineer for Water Supplies has been instructed to resolve issues related to water supply and contamination.
- Filtration Plant: The Kalidas Swimming Pool filtration plant will be replaced.
- Waste Recycling: Efforts will be made to ensure the recycling of 3.75 lakh metric tons of waste monthly at the Mulund East Dumping Ground by June 2025.
- Hospital Construction: A new deadline has been set for the completion of Agarwal Hospital.
- CC Road Works: Instructions have been given to address delays in CC road works across Mulund.
- New Tunnel: A process has begun to appoint a consultant for a new tunnel from Neelam Nagar to Eastern Express Highway, following suggestions from BJP leader Kirit Somaiya.
- Sewage Overflow: A dedicated sewage suction truck will be allocated to Mulund.
- Dumping Ground Closure: Requests have been made to close the Kanjurmarg-Vikhroli East dumping ground.
