Early Life and Education
Ruturaj Sanjay Patil was born on May 31, 1990, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. He is the grandson of Padmashree awardee Dr. D.Y. Patil and the nephew of MLA and former state Minister Mr. Satej D. Patil . Ruturaj completed his education in Kolhapur at St. Xavier’s School and later at Vivekananda College. He further pursued his graduation from Mumbai and completed a postgraduate certification from LeHigh University, Pennsylvania, USA
Political Career
Ruturaj Patil is the third generation of his family to engage in public service and is currently the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Kolhapur South constituency. His political career is heavily influenced by his family legacy and particularly follows in the footsteps of his uncle, Satej Patil, a significant political figure in Maharashtra.
Ruturaj’s approach is a combination of youthful dynamism and an emphasis on innovation. He entered the political scene with a clear focus on infrastructure development, improving education standards, and addressing youth employment in Kolhapur. - Infrastructure Development
- Ruturaj has overseen the development of Kolhapur’s first 5-star luxury hotel, the largest retail mall, and a wellness center in the city, which have contributed to the city’s economic growth.
- Educational Contributions: Continuing his family’s legacy in education, he has been instrumental in expanding educational facilities in Kolhapur, including technical institutions like the D.Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University in Talasande.

Ruturaj has made several promises to his constituents, focusing on long-term sustainable development:

MLA Ruturaj Patil raised four key demands in the Legislative Assembly, calling for an increase in the subsidies provided to beneficiaries of the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana and Shravanbal Yojana. Minister Sanjay Rathod responded positively, stating that these demands will be considered and presented to the Cabinet for further discussion, indicating the government’s openness to addressing the issue.
MLA Ruturaj Patil inaugurated multiple development projects in Dindanerli, a village in his constituency, funded with ₹10 crore. These projects aim to improve local infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for the residents. The inauguration was attended by citizens and community leaders, reflecting the continued commitment to regional development under Patil’s leadership.
MLA Ruturaj Patil inaugurated various development works in Vadakshiwale (Karveer), funded by ₹4.43 crore. The projects include the Jaljeevan Mission Yojana, a futuristic classroom at the Kendra School, an open hall at Watakeshwar Devalaya, a Matang Samaj Temple, and a Sainik Bhavan for ex-servicemen, along with multiple road improvements within the village. The inauguration ceremony was attended by local villagers, highlighting the community’s involvement in these significant initiatives.
MLA Ruturaj Patil inaugurated various development projects in Hanbarwadi (T. Karveer), Kolhapur South Constituency, with a total funding of ₹45 lakh. The inaugurated works include the construction of a protective wall, road construction and asphalting, and the repair of the primary school and Anganwadi building at Hanbarwadi Fata. MLA Ruturaj Patil inaugurated several development projects in Waliwade (T. Karveer), Kolhapur South Constituency, with a total funding of ₹3 Crore 6 Lakh. During the event, he also distributed 85 benches to the Kumar and Kanya Vidya Mandir Waliwade school, enhancing educational infrastructure and facilities in the area.
