    Early Life and Education

    Vishwajeet Kadam was born on January 13, 1980, in Pune, Maharashtra. He is the son of former Congress leader Patangrao Kadam. Vishwajeet completed his B.E., MBA, and PhD in Management. He also completed a course in Management and Leadership in Education from Harvard University

    Political Career

    Vishwajeet Kadam is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). He was first elected as an MLA from the Palus-Kadegaon constituency in 2014 and successfully re-elected in 2019. Throughout his career, he has maintained a clean image with no criminal cases registered against him, which is a rarity in Indian politics.

    Apart from being an MLA, Vishwajeet Kadam holds several significant positions within the Congress party. He is the Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee and has worked diligently to strengthen the party’s presence in the state.

    Ministerial Positions

    In 2020, Vishwajeet Kadam was appointed as the Minister of State for Cooperation, Agriculture, and Social Justice in Maharashtra’s government. His work in these portfolios has focused on rural development, farmer welfare, and improving social justice initiatives across the state.

    Kadam has actively promoted educational initiatives, especially in rural areas, which aligns with his family’s legacy. His father, Patangrao Kadam, founded several educational institutions, and Vishwajeet has continued to support and expand these efforts.

    During the COVID-19 pandemic, Vishwajeet Kadam was at the forefront of relief efforts, especially in securing medical supplies like Remdesivir injections and Tocilizumab for hospitals in Maharashtra. His quick response during the healthcare crisis earned him widespread praise.

    Additionally, Vishwajeet Kadam has been instrumental in various infrastructure projects in his constituency, focusing on road development, water supply, and agricultural advancements. He has also championed the cause of youth empowerment, supporting job creation and skill development programs for young people.

    Contributions

    MLA has taken the initiative to address the rising cases of women abuse in Sangli city and district. They met with District Superintendent of Police Sandeep Ghuge to demand the appointment of special investigation officers and fast-track court trials for such cases. The MLA emphasized the need for immediate action, including police protection for victims’ families and severe punishment for offenders. Additionally, they urged authorities to take swift measures to curb the increasing crime rate and illegal activities

    Vishwajeet Kadam is married to Swapnali Bhosale, a businesswoman and social worker. The couple shares a commitment to philanthropy and social service. Kadam’s personal life reflects his strong ties to his family and dedication to the values instilled by his late father.

    Promises and Future Commitments

    MLA Kadam’s persistent efforts have led to the approval of a new sub-district hospital at Palus. The existing 30-bed rural hospital will be upgraded to a 50-bed facility, addressing the healthcare needs of the local community and reducing patient inconvenience in the region.

    MLA has promised the construction of a large bridge on the Ramapur-Kamalapur Yerla river in Kadegaon, with a sanctioned amount of Rs. 7 crores. During monsoons, the previous bridge over the Sadar river was submerged, cutting off communication. With this new bridge, the inconvenience faced by citizens will be greatly reduced, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity, even during the monsoon season.

    MLA has secured Rs. 6.2 crore for the concreting of Bhagat Mala road, stretching from Vadiyeraibhag to Nalwade Mala. The bhoomipuja ceremony for this project has been completed, marking the beginning of the road development work.

    MLA performed the Bhoomipujan for the road work from Belwade to Vihapur, costing Rs. 4.55 crore, under the Chief Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana. Interacting with villagers, the MLA highlighted special efforts to secure substantial government funds for the development of the Palus-Kadegaon constituency.

    MLA inaugurated and performed Bhoomipujan for various development projects worth Rs. 4.5 crore in Sawantpur village in the presence of dignitaries, including Mahendraappa Lad. Key works include:

    1. Asphalting of roads in various areas, including Sanjay Mohite’s house to Rajendra Kapse’s house and Sandeep Mohite’s house road.
    2. Inauguration of concrete and asphalt roads in Nalwadi and Sawantpur, improving connectivity.
    3. Concreting Sawantpur to Nalwadi Road and improving Madhala Mala Road.
    4. Installation of new pipelines and closed sewer systems in key areas.

    In January 2024, MLA held a meeting with Water Resources Department officials to address water issues in Palus and Kadegaon talukas, focusing on bringing water from Tarli Dam for the Arfal Yojana. The MLA successfully secured government approval for providing irrigation to 1,500 hectares of upland areas in Kadegaon and Karad talukas through the Tembhu scheme. An estimated Rs. 71.28 crore has been allocated for the project, with water to be supplied via a closed pipeline system. The MLA promised that once the survey, approval, and tender processes are completed, the water crisis in this region will be permanently resolved.
