Arvind Ganpat Sawant was born on December 31, 1951, in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree from Bhavan’s College, Mumbai. Before entering politics, he worked as an engineer with the state-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), the largest landline provider in Mumbai and Delhi.
