    Early Life and Education

    Shankar Lalwani, born on October 16, 1961, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is a prominent Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His family, originally from Sindh (now in Pakistan), migrated to India during the Partition. Lalwani completed his higher secondary education in 1978 and earned a B.Tech degree from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai.

    Political Career

    Lalwani’s political journey began in 1994 when he was elected as a Councillor in the Indore Municipal Corporation, a position he held until 1999. He then served as the Chairperson of the Municipal Corporation from 1999 to 2004. In 2013, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Indore Development Authority, leading the organization until 2018. In the 2019 general elections, Lalwani was elected as the Member of Parliament for Indore, succeeding Sumitra Mahajan.

    Major Achievements

    During his tenure as Chairman of the Indore Development Authority, Lalwani initiated several infrastructure projects, including the construction of flyovers and roads, significantly improving the city’s connectivity.
