Early Life and Education
Shrirang Appa Chandu Barne was born on February 16, 1964, in Thergaon, Pune, Maharashtra. He completed his education up to the 10th grade from Shri Fattechand Jain School, Chinchwad, Pune.
Political Career
Shrirang Barne’s political journey began with his involvement in local governance, where he held several influential positions. Between 1997 and 2012, he served as a corporator in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). During his tenure, he also chaired the Standing Committee in PCMC and served as the Leader of Opposition, highlighting his political acumen and leadership. He became a member of the Pune District Planning Committee, where he contributed to regional development initiatives, further solidifying his political presence.
In May 2014, Barne was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha as a Member of Parliament representing the Maval constituency in Maharashtra. Affiliated with the Shiv Sena party, he serves as a member of key parliamentary committees, including the Standing Committee on Defence, and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, where he continues to play an active role in policy-making.

During his tour of the Maval constituency, MP Shrirang Barne allocated ₹20 lakh from local funds for road development in Kinai village. A high-level meeting was held in New Delhi to advance the proposal to name the Navi Mumbai International Airport after the people’s leader, D.B. Patil. The meeting, led by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Maharashtra officials, aimed to finalize the renaming, with strong support from public representatives and Airport Naming Action Committee members. Minister Naidu assured a positive consideration of the proposal, reflecting the sentiments of Maharashtra’s citizens, and stated it would soon be presented to the central cabinet for approval. Key attendees included Maharashtra’s Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, former MP Ramsheth Thakur, and other prominent public figures.
