    Udayanraje Bhonsle, born on February 24, 1966, in Nashik, Maharashtra, is a descendant of the Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. His heritage positions him within the Bhonsle dynasty, a significant legacy influencing his political and social image. He pursued a diploma in Production Engineering, providing a technical background that complements his work in development-focused projects.

    Political Career and Party Positions

    Bhonsle represents the Satara constituency in Maharashtra. Initially elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1998, he transitioned to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and successfully contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Satara. His prominence in local and national politics is partly due to his historical lineage, as well as his ongoing involvement with the community.

    In 2019, Bhonsle made a pivotal move by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), enhancing his influence in Maharashtra’s political landscape. His decisions and shifts reflect his strategic alignment with political forces to strengthen his work for Satara.

    MP Udayanraje Bhonsle recently took a proactive stance on Maratha reservation by meeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Delhi. He advocated for collaboration among key state leaders—Sharad Pawar, Manoj Jarange Patil, and Professor Laxman Hake—to explore viable solutions within constitutional limits. Bhonsle emphasized the importance of a caste census to address the reservation issue comprehensively.

    MP Udayanraje Bhonsle has championed better rail connectivity for Satara, advocating for the Kolhapur-Pune Vande Bharat Express to include stops at Satara, Lonand, and Karad. This initiative aims to boost regional tourism and facilitate easier travel for residents, aligning with his focus on enhancing infrastructure and promoting local industries.

    MP Udayanraje Bhonsle announced a sanctioned fund of ₹96.5 crore for the development of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Stadium in Karad. This initiative will enable a comprehensive upgrade, providing state-of-the-art facilities for sports enthusiasts in the area.

    To boost industry in Satara and create jobs for local youth, MP Udayanraje Bhonsle advocated for the establishment of a regional MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) office in Satara. This proposal was accepted by Industry Minister Uday Samant during an employment meeting, aiming to provide on-the-spot solutions to entrepreneurs’ issues in the district.
