In a fierce political attack, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday declared that Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has “no political future in the state till 2047,” while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has “no vacancy at the national level.”

Speaking at a BJP programme in Pilibhit, Maurya accused opposition parties of being “frustrated by the rise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who came from a poor family background.” He alleged that their politics is built around “misleading the public” and blamed them for “questioning the Election Commission to hide their failures.”

Maurya insisted that under BJP governance, booth capturing and voter intimidation are impossible. “Elections are now decided by the people. Criminals have been pushed out of the state, and only genuine candidates win,” he said.

He also cited the BJP’s success in recent Haryana and Maharashtra polls, predicting a similar outcome in Bihar. Additionally, he highlighted medical camps being conducted under the Seva Pakhwada campaign for women’s health.

Meanwhile, in Varanasi, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak launched his own attack on Rahul Gandhi, saying his “hunger for power does not allow him to rest.” Pathak claimed that the opposition is frustrated because the BJP has dismantled organised crime in Uttar Pradesh.

Separately, Maurya addressed a seminar at Lucknow University on “Role of Media in Indian Democracy: Opportunities and Challenges”, organised as part of Rajasthan Patrika’s centenary celebrations. Emphasising the media’s importance, he said: “The government and the media are co-travelers in democracy. The media’s contribution to fostering positive dialogue between the government and the public is invaluable.”
