In yet another alarming incident, a four-storey residential structure collapsed in East Delhi’s Seelampur locality early Saturday morning, raising serious concerns about the safety of ageing and unauthorized buildings in the capital. The collapse occurred under the jurisdiction of the Welcome Police Station area, and several individuals are believed to be trapped beneath the debris.

Emergency services were alerted around 7 AM, prompting a swift response from the Delhi Fire Department and local authorities. At least seven fire tenders and multiple rescue teams rushed to the scene, initiating search and rescue operations amid the rubble.

Initial reports confirm that three to four individuals have been rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition remains unknown. Officials on-site stated that operations are ongoing and further updates will be shared once more details emerge.

“We received information about the building collapse in the early morning hours. Our teams, including seven fire engines, are working continuously at the site,” said a fire officer present at the scene.

As of now, no casualties have been officially confirmed, and the extent of structural and property damage is still being assessed.

This marks the second building collapse in Delhi within 24 hours. On Friday around 2 AM, a separate incident occurred near the Azad Market in North Delhi, where a structure gave way, resulting in one fatality and significant damage to a parked vehicle.
