Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid heartfelt tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, crediting the Father of the Indian Constitution for inspiring India’s ongoing pursuit of social justice and inclusive development. In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “On behalf of all the countrymen, I bow down to Bharat Ratna Pujya Babasaheb on his birth anniversary. It is due to his inspiration that the country is dedicatedly engaged in realizing the dream of social justice today. His principles and ideals will give strength and momentum to the creation of an 'Atmnirbhar' and 'Viksit' India.”
The Prime Minister marked Ambedkar Jayanti by visiting Haryana, where he launched several key infrastructure projects. In Hisar, he flagged off a commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya and laid the foundation stone for a new terminal building. Later in Yamuna Nagar, he inaugurated and laid the foundation for various development projects, addressing public gatherings and reiterating his government’s commitment to building a self-reliant India guided by Ambedkar’s ideals.
Ambedkar Jayanti is observed as a national holiday, with people across the country paying homage by offering flowers, lighting candles, and organizing cultural events. Dr Ambedkar, fondly known as Babasaheb, was the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and served as the first Law and Justice Minister of independent India. Born into a poor Dalit Mahar family in Madhya Pradesh, he dedicated his life to the upliftment of marginalized communities and led powerful movements against untouchability starting in 1927. Today, he is revered as a Dalit icon and a symbol of social transformation.
