Congress Dares PM Modi To Deny Donald Trump’s Claim On India-Pakistan Ceasefire, Alleges Diplomatic Failure

The Congress party on Tuesday mounted a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning his silence over US President Donald Trump's claim that American “intervention” led to a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

At a press conference held at the Bihar Congress headquarters, party spokesperson and social media head Supriya Shrinate demanded clarity from the Prime Minister. “The Congress had made it clear, soon after the Pahalgam terror attack, that it would support any strong steps taken by the government. But why has the Prime Minister not rebutted Trump’s claim? Why doesn’t he call the US President’s bluff?” Shrinate asked.

She invoked former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s leadership, recalling how she stood firm against US pressure during the 1971 war that led to the creation of Bangladesh. “We had a Prime Minister who did not flinch in the face of US threats and went ahead with decisive action. Today, Pakistan — a virtually bankrupt country — is being treated like an equal to India on the world stage. This is a sign of diplomatic weakness,” Shrinate alleged.

She further noted that Trump had reiterated his claim of mediating between India and Pakistan "at least nine times in 11 days", and accused the Modi government of "failing diplomatically" by staying silent.

Shrinate also criticized the Prime Minister for “prioritizing rallies in Bihar” over participating in an all-party meeting held in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. “He has the time to mingle with celebrities, but not to convene Parliament or face questions about national security,” she said.

Taking aim at the BJP-JD(U) alliance in Bihar, Shrinate said the ruling parties had “failed to secure special category status” for the state. She also called out Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying, “He joined hands with the same party that once questioned his DNA, and yet, he has failed to secure either a special package or recognition for Bihar.”
