'Congress’s Hindu Terror Conspiracy Destroyed': BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad Welcomes Malegaon Verdict

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has strongly welcomed the special NIA court’s verdict acquitting all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, calling it the "collapse of Congress's fabricated Hindu terror narrative."

Reacting to the judgment, Prasad said, “Congress's conspiracy of Hindu terror has been destroyed. There was never any evidence against any of the accused. Colonel Purohit, who bravely fought against terrorists in Kashmir, was wrongly implicated. Pragya Thakur was accused simply because her motorcycle was allegedly used. She was tortured so brutally that she could not walk afterward.”

He accused the Congress party of orchestrating the entire case for "sheer vote bank politics," alleging that the narrative of “saffron terror” was manufactured to vilify an entire religious identity. “This was not just about individuals. This was an attempt to defame Hinduism and insult the saffron identity. Congress must be held accountable for this conspiracy,” he added.

The Malegaon blast on September 29, 2008, near Bhikku Chowk in Maharashtra, killed six people and injured over 90. While the case initially involved 11 suspects, the trial eventually proceeded against seven, including BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit.

The NIA court ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish any credible evidence linking the accused to the motorcycle used in the bombing. The court also highlighted flaws in medical records and inconsistencies in witness statements.

Following the judgment, several BJP leaders have demanded an apology from Congress leaders, particularly Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, for what they claim was a politically motivated campaign to malign Hindu saints, seers, and serving army officers.

Ravi Shankar Prasad concluded his statement by saying, “We welcome the court’s decision. It restores faith in the judiciary and delivers justice to those who were wrongly branded as terrorists for political gains.”
