AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has condemned the recent terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, describing it as a "cowardly act" and expressing grave concern over reports that victims were singled out based on religion.
Addressing the media in Srinagar, Owaisi said, “It was a cowardly attack. We have seen how terrorists from Pakistan killed 26 tourists. The more disheartening is how they were killed by separating kids and women, and asking males about their religion, and those who couldn’t recite the Kalma.”
Calling for strong action, he emphasized that such targeted killings not only threaten innocent lives but also undermine Kashmir’s tourism economy, which has been witnessing a revival in recent years. “It has also affected Kashmir tourism, and hence, we want strong action to be taken against those who committed that,” Owaisi asserted.
In a separate comment on the Indus Waters Treaty, which India has suspended amid escalating diplomatic tensions with Pakistan, Owaisi said, “It is in abeyance as of now. There is an issue of the neutral expert and the court of arbitration in it; let's see what happens.”
The AIMIM leader's remarks come as the Centre faces increasing pressure over national security, with several opposition voices demanding accountability and a reassessment of India’s Pakistan policy following the attack.
